The web app offers the main features of the main app - namely the timeline, sending tweets, direct messaging, trends, profiles and notifications.

This means that Twitter users that are hoping to use Twitter Lite will need a web browser on their mobile devices, which shouldn't be a problem. The launch acknowledges the fact that 45% of mobile connections around the world are still made on slow 2G networks, according to the GSMA.

Twitter says that data saver can reduce your data usage by as much as 70%, which isn't anything to scoff at. It also features a further data-saving mode that will blur out any images or videos until the user taps on them to view them.

Twitter Lite is available globally, and many people will end up accessing it without realizing - it's the new standard mobile web experience for Twitter.

Around the world, the struggling social network knows that slow mobile networks, costly data plans, and lack of storage on mobile gadgets are all reasons why people may be missing out on its service. Of course, the service can be accessed from smartphones, tablets and personal computers alike, as long as they have an active Internet connection.

Twitter Lite is a new, mobile-only version that uses less data, loads more quickly on slow connections and takes up less than one megabyte of space.

Commission member Charles Price, a retired Montgomery County Circuit Judge, said the Legislature had to make those determinations. The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to begin testimony during hearings concerning impeachment articles next week.

Twitter follows Facebook and YouTube in releasing a scaled down version of its service aimed at users outside of the US.

In spite of being an application you have to access through a web browser, Twitter Lite has some functionalities that remind one of a native mobile app.

What are your thoughts about the Twitter Lite experience?

Twitter has rolled out a "Lite" avatar which promises lower data usage and is targeted at markets like ours, where connectivity is a never-ending issue.

Lite could prove useful even to those on faster 4G networks: the less data that whatever app consumes, the better it is for anyone's data budget. Twitter Lite supports some offline use, so if you temporarily lose your connection, you won't be interrupted.
