To draw awareness around that 20 percent less that women earn compared to men, Lean-In launched a new campaign Tuesday in which businesses nationwide, including over 30 in San Diego, offered a 20 percent discount.
Over fifty years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act, women continue to earn about eighty percent as much money as men. The group plans to advocate for equal pay, create tool kits people can bring to their companies and celebrate those organizations that already pay equally regardless of gender.
Equal Pay Day is being held Tuesday to highlight wage discrimination against women.

"Because of the businesses that are in NY, if they're really trying to get the greatest talent, that's another thing that tends to disrupt discrimination", she said.
Davenport says one way women can get ahead is to negotiate higher salaries.
