Quiet, comfortable weather continues through Thursday. This will likely begin as a line of individual storms developing along and east of the Mississippi River and intensifying as they move east.
Midweek, the next low pressure system will move into the Plains and Midwest, possibly bringing the risk of severe weather.
There are a couple things to note on the two images above.
A severe thunderstorm watch or a tornado watch means weather conditions are right for one of these storms to develop. "Widespread rainfall totals of 2-3" plus are possible across the area, especially within the watch. Hazards: Damaging winds.large hail.isolated tornados.flash flooding from torrential rain.
Breezy conditions are forecast for the East Tennessee mountains and foothills, with southerly wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour possible. For now, we will focus on the evening system.

Racial slurs, homophobic language, "ablest" slurs, and sexist language have all slipped through Twitter's new censorship feature. Twitter has made a big show about trying to solve the seemingly endless amount of abuse and targeted harassment on its platform.
Showers and storms over the southern half of the state are marching northward. The NWS is warning of damaging winds, hail and severe storms.
A storm shelter will be open as potentially severe thunderstorms approach the area tonight.

All storms south of the warm front on Sunday morning will have a great potential to produce severe weather. Flooding will be a possibility outside of this area as well. Morning storms along the Gulf Coast and in the Upper Midwest reduced the risk for "robust" instability later in the day, the forecasters said. Unfortunately, it appears things will be going downhill quickly tomorrow afternoon.
For the Richmond area, the weather will be mostly dry on Friday evening, but isolated showers or rumbles of thunder may occur before midnight.
