They said this coming month is about reminding people that the sad reality of child abuse is preventable.

Burke County child abuse prevention advocates are presenting a community challenge this April for businesses and community members to add pinwheels and pinwheel gardens to our community throughout the month of April.

According to Nancy Willis, executive director of the 15 Judicial District Child Advocacy Center, each pinwheel represents a child who was severely physically or sexually abused and helped by the Child Advocacy Center.

"If we all work together in Montgomery County we can achieve our vision of having a community that strives to make sure all children and youth are respected, nurtured and protected", MCYSB Director Karen Branch said. Circuit Court Judge Thomas Hakes spoke about how to prevent child abuse and neglect.

"Today's children are our future leaders, parents, and workers", said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight in a letter to local business owners. This year the goal is to have more than 75,000 participants.

A year ago in IL, 110,098 cases of child abuse were reported.

"I want them to understand how important what we do is", Clark explained.

Most recipients are women, and two-thirds have incomes at or below the federal poverty level, around $12,000 for an individual. Former Vice President Joe Biden, who served under President Barack Obama for eight years, never cast a tie-breaking vote.

If you see child abuse or neglect, you can report it by calling the Colorado hotline: 1-844-CO4KIDS.

"The ministry of keeping kids safe is critical to the Church, and it's not just something that we do because a charter tells us that we have to". The Kansas Department for Children and Families has investigators to handle reported cases.

"Research shows it just takes one person to make a difference in a child's life that has suffered from abuse.just one", expressed DCCCA's Jeanette Owens.

Dr Letourneau said there has been an increase in juvenile sexual conduct cases being dismissed or reduced on plea bargain to keep children off registries.

Andrea Hagen, Preventative Specialist with Heartland for Children, a Bartow-based child welfare service provider network operating in Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties, says the campaign adopted the pinwheel as a symbol of childhood play and innocence.
