Israeli Police Shoot Dead Palestinian After He Stabs 3 Israelis

The Palestinian health ministry, meanwhile, confirmed that a Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli police in East Jerusalem.

A Palestinian attacker from the West Bank who stabbed and wounded three Israelis was shot dead by police near the Old City's Damascus Gate.

Israeli border police secure an alley following a stabbing attack inside the old city of Jerusalem April 1, 2017.

The recent Israeli Cabinet's endorsement of yet another plan to build a new settlement in the West Bank, for the objective of which it confiscated some 977 dunums of Palestinian land, was condemned by the government on Saturday as a "blatant violation" of the rights of the Palestinian people, especially the right to establish their independent state on Palestinian soil.

Saturday's event was the first in a series organized by Standing Together, an umbrella movement consisting of pro-peace organizations and left-wing parties, marking 50 years since the Six-Day War, Haaretz said.

Holding both Israeli and Palestinian flags, the demonstrators demanded an end to illegal settlement expansion.

Almost 400,000 Jewish settlers are now living in the West Bank along with 2.8 million Palestinians.

British 10th seed Konta used an aggressive game plan to overcome Danish 12th seed Wozniacki on the Crandon Park hardcourt. Konta got off to a blistering start, breaking Wozniacki's serve to love in the opening game.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted a senior White House official as saying that "Netanyahu had committed to the creation of a new settlement and chose to market 2,000 homes in the settlements before President Trump directly expressed his concerns regarding further construction in the West Bank or his expectations of Israel on the issue".

Israel's settlement expansion defies the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 adopted in December 2016 that condemned the settlements as a "flagrant violation of worldwide law".

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced the approval of tenders for some 2,000 new settlement homes, in addition to some 6,000 planned homes first announced in January.

"The Secretary-General took notice with disappointment and alarm of the decision by Israel to build a new settlement", according to a statement from his spokesman. The move sparked widespread condemnations from the United Nations to European countries.

"He condemns all unilateral actions that, like the present one, which threaten peace and undermine the two-state solution", the spokesman said.

Or, Israel not only has no intention to withdraw, it continues to steal more land from the Palestinians, under the very eyes of the silent worldwide community, with impunity.
