The runaway bull, who escaped from a slaughterhouse, was spotted by the corner of Archer and Sutphin avenues at about 10:20 a.m.
Cows escaped slaughterhouses at least twice a year ago, in January and April.
As police were clearing the block, the bull sprang between police cars and escaped again, leading slaughterhouse employees on a chase.
It was in the New York City borough of Queens.
According to CBS, local resident Felicia Evans said: "It was the running of the bulls today from what I understand".
Birthday wishes for President Mugabe
Mugabe has been confirmed by the ruling Zanu-PF as its party's presidential candidate for the 2018 elections when he will be 94. He recently said he is not ready to step down and will not groom a successor as it is the responsibility of the people.
Footage on WABC-TV showed the black bull trotting through a residential neighbourhood.
Officers trailed after the bull for about two hours, trying to trap it between police vehicles and avoid being injured. Someone even started a Jamaica Bull account on Twitter, named after the Jamaica, Queens, neighborhood where the escape took place. Comedian Jon Stewart and his wife, Tracey, took Frank to an animal sanctuary in Watkins Glen.
A crew from an animal sanctuary is on the way to get the animal.
The Daily News reported the cow died after it was tranquilized by police.
